Changing landscape of Agriculture

Like many other industries, agriculture is also changing very fast and its hard for companies and experts to keep up with the changes that are happening in agriculture.

Until a few years back, crops, vegetables and fruits only grew in farms on soil. Today crops, vegetables and fruits are growing in building through hydroponic system without any use of soil. Until a few years back this was unthinkable.

Until a few years back, it costed approx 4-5 million INR (40-50 lakhs) to start a Soil Testing Lab. Today companies such as Harvesto have innovated and brought out Soil Testing Kit using which anyone can start their Soil Testing Lab in just under 1 lakh INR or 1300 USD.

Few years ago it was impossible to farm in areas where there is no rain or less availability of water. Today there are green healthy farms even in desert places like Middle East, Dubai and Israel. Farmers there are using drip irrigation and green-house farming to grow crops, vegetables and fruits by using less water through drip-irrigation and controlling the climate in green-houses.

After the Green-Revolution and advent of chemical fertilizers which increased crop-yield drastically, it was unthinkable of imagining agriculture without chemical fertilizers, but today again farmers are shifting towards traditional methods of farming using bio-fertilisers, bio-pesticides, organic manure, and are doing natural farming more and more. In fact the consumers are ready to pay a premium of 20-30% more on prices of naturally grown or organic vegetables and fruits.
