Soil Health Card Scheme

Soil Health Card is a scheme announced by the Prime Minister of India Shri Narendra Modi in 2014 and launched in 2015. Under this scheme the Government of India's Ministry of Agriculture is giving free soil testing report to farmers every two years.

Mini Soil Labs are being setup by Government agencies across the country to make this scheme available to all farmers of India. According to Government data, over 16 crore / 160 million free Soil Health Cards have been given to Indian farmers so far.

The Soil Health Card scheme aims to optimise the use of fertilisers in agriculture and increase the yield of farmers crop. It is also a scheme by the Prime Minister to reach every farmer across the country and send out a message that he cares for them.
